Silage is the feed obtained as a result of fermentation of water-rich feeds in an airless environment with the effect of lactic acid bacteria. The place where the feed is stored is called a silo or silage pit.

In our country, meat and milk yield per animal has increased in recent years. It is known that wheat and corn silage have a large share in this increase. Especially in humid areas, the problem of drying grass and the easy silage of most plants have made silage production widespread. The use of silage is becoming more and more common due to reasons such as storing plants with very little loss in nutrients, not being affected by weather conditions, being suitable for mechanization, low harvest and transportation losses, and long-term preservation of well-made silages.
