Since the candle wick is made of 100% cotton thread, it is natural that black soot comes out when first lit and extinguished. In order to reduce the amount of soot and smoke, the wick should be extinguished immediately after it is first lit, and the burning and black-looking tip should be cut off with a pair of scissors.
Then it should be burned again, in this way the amount of black soot will be minimized.
