Usage areas:
It is used in obtaining other alkalis, glass making, vulcanization of artificial rubber, preparation of anti-corrosion mixtures, purification of vegetable and animal oils, softening of water and in the sugar industry. In industry, barium hydroxide is used as a precursor to other barium compounds. It is used to remove monohydrate, dehydrate and sulfate from various products. This application takes advantage of the very low solubility of barium sulfate.
