Balloons can have more than one mouth, this type of balloons are called multi-mouth balloons. They have different uses in the organic chemistry laboratory.
When a three-mouth balloon is used as a reaction vessel, usually a mechanical stirrer is placed in the middle mouth, one of the side mouths is refluxed, the other a dropping funnel is attached. Or, if a magnetic stirrer is used, a backcooler is attached to the middle mouth, one of the side mouths is a dropping funnel, and the other is for thermometer or gas inlet.
